We have been having pretty bad luck a far as weather goes. It rained the entire time we were on the Sunshine Coast. Since our only plan had been to go to the beach we didn’t really know what to do. We have covered quite a bit more ground than we had planned on in search for the sun. We wanted a bit of a break from driving so we decided to head to South Burnett, Queensland’s wine country.
Nice wine and cheese is not something Asia is particularly good at so it’s been a while since we have had any. We stopped first at Cheese World for a tasting. Most of the cheese was quite good especially the feta and bush pepper. The blue orchid tasted more like dirty socks.
There were a dozen wineries to choose from in the area but we decided to stop at Barambah. It’s a relatively new vineyard. The owner decided he wanted a change of pace 8 years ago and started the business. He was really nice explaining how he goes about growing the grapes and making each wine. We sampled his collection of about eight wines and walked out with a delicious bottle of red.
We had our lunch on a huge lake before driving on hoping to finally find some sunshine.
