We woke up again to more rain and decided we had had enough. We would just drive north until we finally found the sun. Thankfully it was only a couple hours away.
About every three nights we figure it’s time for a shower and so we pay to stay at a campground. We found a nice one with beach access and set up camp. After spending the afternoon on the beach we headed back to the van to sit in the shade.
When we arrived at the campground the owner told us we could take our pick. We chose the one closest to the beach. It also happened to be set apart from the other vans to give us some privacy. Or so we thought.
As we sat out with our coffee we soon realized that we had some neighbours. The trees were full of bats. When I say full I don’t mean one or two, I’m talking at least 30 bats. The fun didn’t stop there though, we also had wild turkeys wandering up to us. As the sun set the frogs also joined the party with numbers to rival the bats. It was just like being back at the zoo.
When we checked out in the morning Jacob mentioned to the owner how much we enjoyed all the wildlife. She asked if we had also seen the snakes they had introduced to help eat the bats. Luckily, the snakes seemed to hide themselves well and we missed out on that exhibit.
