Tonight marks our last night in Namibia. What an incredible country.
It’s bittersweet to be flying out in the morning. It was such an adventure here. The kids seem to finally be hitting their stride with our hectic itinerary. C&M did amazing in the car today (all 6 hours of driving). We only had about 5 minutes of crying – which I count as a major win. I feel like I’ve seen what I wanted to see but I’m sure there’s still so much left to discover. At the same time Cape Town with it’s beaches, wine and friends is calling my name.
This mini trip inside our larger adventure has been really exciting to do with the kids. This is our first real traveling as a family and I think we did really well (if I do say so myself). In the past 13 days we have slept in 9 different places; often all in one room. And for the most part, everyone has slept all night. Win!
We’ve driven over 1500 km in the past week through Namibia where it’s hot and rugged with very little opportunity for stopping (well you can stop, but you might get eaten by something). Aside from a few minor meltdowns, myself included, no one truly lost their cool. Another win!
C has started to really embrace the nomadic lifestyle (hooray!) which is huge for this little boy who cried for his own bed for the first few days. M was a champion and as always rolled with all of it. We got to experience this trip through their eyes, and that’s a pretty precious thing.
We probably won’t be back to Namibia for a while (that’s not really our style) but it certainly has left us with a taste for more adventure. Let’s hope that house of ours sells while we’re here 😉
P.S. I added pictures to the previous posts.
