I’d have to say today was by far our most successful day. Not because of anything spectacular but because we saw a definite decrease in tears. Charlie is a creature of habit (I wonder where he picked that up!) and has been struggling a bit with our hectic schedule. And by struggling I mean throwing hysterical tantrums. Hello terrible twos!
We took it a bit easier today with just a couple of game drives – rather successful ones at that. Charlie slept through the lion sighting but Madeline seemed to enjoy it. She squawked happily from the backseat anyway. An early dinner, swim in the pool and ice cream for dessert made for a happy little boy.
The lodge where we are staying in Etosha has a waterhole. We are here in their “rainy” season so the land is more lush than normal. The animals aren’t forced to visit the waterholes but apparently some still do. Tonight Jacob and I took turns visiting it while the babes slept. They light them at night since there is more animal activity when it isn’t as hot. We were pleasantly surprised to find four rhinos (rhinos!). We both sat and watched them lock horns, snort and stamp their feet. Incredible!
