To say day one was hectic would be a downright lie. I was feeling pretty confident after flight one. I should have known better. Has 2+ years of motherhood not taught me anything?
Flight one did go remarkably well. Both kids drifted off to sleep for about 45 minutes each which was incredible. We landed and made it through security. There were no tears. Then the rails came off.
Jacob apparently caught the flu that I had Sunday. 20 minutes after taking off on our second flight. So while he’s feeling miserable for the rest of the day the kids and I are attempting to cope sans-dad in a hotel room in Boston. And for those of you who think hotels are great – you clearly have never locked yourself in one room with two children under 3. (Andrew Deveaux I know you understand my pain)
Sadly there are no pictures of the fiasco that was my life today. There were a few moments that were definitely photo worthy. Charlie stripping down to his socks and running around minutes before trying to leave. Madeline dumping an entire container of Cheerios on the floor. Charlie blowing milk bubbles all over his pants at McDonald’s. Not to mention So. Many. Tears. (Myself included)
I will say though right now at 730 I feel half super woman having successfully put both kids to bed by myself in a hotel room. Based on how things went earlier today this should last about 9 more minutes. [update: they slept through the night thanks to melatonin aka sweet sleep nectar]
