After four plus months on the road, I was ready for a break. Traveling is fun and exciting but moving around every 3 or 4 days gets tiring. It’s amazing to me how much things have changed in a year as I was so happy to go back to Korea where I felt so comfortable and at home.
We spent about five weeks in Korea over the Christmas holidays. It was great to get to see Kayla, our friends and have some familiar food. We got to visit all of our old spots where we spent the majority of our year and were welcomed back with open arms.
The time has flown by since we left Canada and as we were spending our final days in Korea it was hard to believe that we had finished all we had. Going home always seemed years and years away and now it felt like it was just around the corner.
Saying goodbye to Korea was quite a bit more difficult than I had expected. I had really made a home there and felt comfortable in it. I loved my job at the University that I was really fortunate to get for the month that I was there. I liked knowing the language, the people, the culture and everything else that went along with being in a foreign country. Sure there were days where it still drove me crazy, but it was familiar. The month back in Korea made me realize just how much I enjoyed my time there.
