I love the beach. Anyone who knows even a little about me should know this. It is and will always be my favourite place to be. I love the feel of the sand the sound of the water and being able to just sit and read a good book for hours. The beach makes me feel at home. After spending the last three weeks traveling primarily in cities it was time to take a bit of a break. That’s when we found Hoa’s Place.
We had intended to travel straight from Hanoi to Hoi An and skip out on Hue in between but in order to do this we had to make a stop in Da Nang. After traveling all night on a sleeper bus on roads worse than anything even imagined on PEI and then a yrai we were tired and just wanted to stop even though we weren’t in Hoi An yet. There was one budget option listed in Da Nang in our guide book and since it was also on the beach we decided to give it a shot. We were ecstatic with what we found.
We hired two motor bikes to take us and all of our stuff to the address in our book. After driving for almost 15 minutes I started to get a little nervous as to where exactly we were going to end up. Especially after we passed the all of the other hotels and could no longer see the beach through the construction sites. We turned down a fairly secluded almost gravel road and sure enough at the end of it was our hotel.
The place was definitely nothing fancy. The open air lobby/front desk/restaurant had a few tables and chairs sand a deep freeze along one wall. Hoa greeted with a smile showed us to our very basic but clean room a few buildings over and we sat down for some lunch. Since it’s such a remote place the while billing sstem works on the honour system. You write down what you ordered to eat or grabbed from the fridge in a book and settle it when you eventually decide to check out. After lunch I hurried down to see what the
