Korea is definitely the loudest place I have ever lived. Which may come as a shock to some of you seeing as I grew up in a house where it was common to have 2 tv’s on, plus the radio, a child screaming and a dog barking. It’s possible that it just feels louder because we don’t understand anything anyone is saying, but I don’t think so. The noise starts early in the morning and just doesn’t seem to stop. Here’s a sample of some of the din.
Computa Samnida
This man usually comes to our apartment complex at around 11:00 on Wednesday mornings. He strolls around the apartments yelling in hopes that someone will want to sell him their old broken computer.
A Korean Phone Call
Almost everyday at break at school the Korean teachers make their calls to the parents. This a sample of break time.
The Bell
Instead of a ringing bell to signal the end of class, we get a little song.
The Bus
The bus is always an adventure. Hang on!
Downtown
Between the traffic, the drunk Koreans, the trucks blaring K-Pop (see a future post) and the women selling ice cream, downtown can be a noisy place.
Public Service Announcements
We have a PA in our apartment that everyone once in a while gives us very helpful little pieces of information.
