Packing

Brynn:

One thing I’ve spent a long time thinking about is what I should pack for this trip. I’m only going to be carrying a 32 L backpack (Black Diamond Demon) so already my choices are limited.

Here’s what I’ve narrowed it down to.

Clothes:

  • 2 pairs of zip-off pants/shorts. I have MEC’s Prana Tenaya and Mountain Hardwear’s Corsica Convertible Pants
  • 1 pair of Adidas capris (Clima 365)
  • 2 Nike quick dry tank tops
  • 2 Nike quick dry t-shirts
  • 1 Nike quick dry long sleeve shirt
  • 2 pairs of Underarmor shorts (3 inch length and capri)
  • 1 zip up sweater
  • 3 sports bras and 1 regular bra
  • 6 pairs of MEC travel underwear
  • 3 pairs of Nike quick dry socks
  • 2 headbands
  • bathing suit
  • rain jacket (MEC Hydrofoil Lightweight Rain Jacket)
  • 1 pair of sneakers (Nike Free)
  • 1 pair of birkenstocks
  • 1 pair of flip flops

First Aid/Medicine/Stuff to keep us Clean: Since we won’t be staying put for very long, we don’t have the luxury of stocking up on this stuff and leaving it in a home base, unfortunately that means we have to carry most of it with us.

  • Band-aids
  • Polysporin
  • Gravol
  • Advil
  • Cold&Sinus Medicine
  • Immodium
  • Prescription Medication
  • Sleeping pills
  • Multi-vitamin
  • Travel size toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouth wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash.
  • Coverup, mascara (I’d rather not look like a complete hobo all the time)
  • Sunscreen and Off Bug repellant
  • Deodorant
  • Hair brush, comb, elastics, bobby pins
  • Nail clippers, nail file and tweezers
  • Razor
  • Face cloth and quick dry towel

Other stuff:

  • A neck pillow
  • ear planes (this things are incredible)
  • travel size umbrella
  • a small notebook
  • sunglasses
  • Guide books for China, India and SE Asia with the irrelevant sections cut out
  • a day bag
  • iPod touch
  • iPod shuffle
  • a very small sewing kit

Camera Equipment

  • Crumpler 6 million dollar bag
  • Canon Rebel XS
  • Canon 18-200mm lens + hood and polarized filter
  • Canon 10-22mm lens + hood and polarized filter
  • Gorilla pod
  • Canon Powershot SD780 IS
  • 5 extra batteries (2 for the Rebel and 3 for the Powershot)
  • 32GB worth of SD cards
