Zip Lining

This should come as a shock to anyone who knows me, but we spent our last morning in Siem Reap at the Angkor Wat Zipline, and I participated. This is listed as one of the best attractions in Siem Reap and the kids found the posters and pamphlets almost immediately after we arrived. We had considered doing it the afternoon we were at the temples, but thankfully they were sold out because there was no way we would have been able to complete the course in the heat of the afternoon. We had a late evening flight to Hanoi so we need da way to spend the day and a morning at the zip line course seemed the way to do it.

Our friend Mr. Toukla picked us up at 7:45 for our trip back into the jungle. Despite our best efforts we were still late for our 8:30 start. Thankfully Mr. Toukla has 9 brothers and sisters, one of which works at the zip line course so he called ahead and had them hold the tour for us. We were given our safety rundown, fitted into our harnesses and set out for the course.

We picked the 90 minute long half course that involves four zippiness and three suspension bridges over 100m up. You can almost catch a breeze that high up so the heat was manageable. I will admit, it was actually fun – turns out zip lining is my level of thrill. The views were spectacular, and there weren’t any monkeys. A great day win the jungle!

That just about wrapped up our time in Siem Reap. We were sad to say goodbye to Mr. Toukla and the amazing Cambodian people. Our second visit will definitely lead to another – the people here are just incredible, the scenery gorgeous, the food delicious – we will be back.
