Movies and Yummy Chicken

Our final few days in Phu Quoc we settled into a bit of a routine and stuck close to the hotel. We had a lot of good intentions to rent scooters or hire taxis and see what the rest of the island had to offer, but honestly, it was nice to just sit still for a bit. It was melt your face off hot and since we had our choice of four different pools and the beach at our doorstep it just seemed like the obvious choice to stay close to home.

Our days involved deciding which of the pools to start in – the main one or the one at the restaurant or brave the hot sand and go to the beach. We ended up rotating through the three options, I don’t think we could have chose wrong. The one thing we didn’t rotate on was where to go for dinner – Jacob discovered yummy chicken our first afternoon on the island and we were hooked.

They have their own little night market area in the marina where we are staying. It’s well set up and all of the places look amazing but yummy chicken was our spot. The lady was so sweet – giving the kids extra fruit and treats and often a few hugs – and her food was incredible. In the end we ended up trying a good portion of her menu and never spending more than $25 on our meal.

On Mondays and Wednesdays they play movies in the pool area on large projectors. While at first I was a little concerned that Charlie would just forget about keeping his head above water and drown (if you’ve ever seen this kid on a screen, you’ll understand) it ended up being rather enjoyable.

And of course, no trip to Asia is really complete until your entire group has matching clothes. We managed to find our set in the night market area. Jacob was so impressed with his suit, that he went back a second time to get another one. His summer wardrobe is complete.
