Beach days

Hoi An is hot. Like really really hot. I have probably asked Jacob 15 times if it was this hot the last time we were here. You sweat immediately after stepping outside. It’s easily over 35° + humidity. Thankfully we all love the heat and we are close to the beach and a pool.

The kids logged a lot of time in the water over the last five days. The day started and ended with pool time with often a dip in between. The pool wasn’t huge but they were the only people in it and managed to not fight with each other at least 35% of the time.

The beach was a quick bike ride away. Our villa had bikes to use for free. We quickly taught the girls how to balance on the back of a bike and Charlie was just big enough to use his own. It left a bit to be desired safety wise, as we weaved through traffic flying down the road but we escaped unscathed.

The beach was awesome. With the purchase of a couple of beer ($5.50CAD) you could get a lounger in the shade. We made use of one everyday. The kids had a blast, well the girls did, in the water. Charlie eventually remembered that it’s way more fun to play in the water than mope at the end of a beach chair. The water was a constant 26° – even I made it in a few times.

Any day at the beach is a good day. Having someone serve you the most delicious iced coffees, cold beers and pizza, while sitting in the shade just makes it an even better day. While this beach was no lakeside, few really are, it certainly did the trick!
