Our week in Korea came to a close quickly. We squeezed in as much as we could in Ulsan while also getting acclimatized to Asia and adjusted to the time. The kids did remarkably well considering the transition – the food is different, the language is foreign, the noise and lights are endless. As much as it was very different for the kids, it was like going home for Jacob and I.
I have spent 15 years reminiscing about our time in Korea. It was and remains one of the best years of my life. We had so much fun when we lived there and I just loved so much of it.
The Koreans are amazing people. They were unbelievably welcoming and kind, especially to the kids. It has changed so much since 2009 that there were times it was unrecognizable. It has become much more westernized – the latest Starbucks I’ve ever seen on almost every block. English on all the signs and the ability to translate on the fly. It would have been a much different experience if we were living there now.
Korea did exactly what we wanted it to do. It was an awesome intro for the kids, Jacob and I got to show them around to places that are very dear to us and got us excited for the rest of the trip. Off to sunny Vietnam we go!
