Our weather luck ran out on us in Calgary and we were back to more Canadian spring temperatures. We didn’t have a whole lot planned for the May long weekend in Calgary but we had a great time exploring the city. We were super lucky with the location of our AirBnb. We were able to just park the van the whole time we were in the city and either walk or take public transit wherever we wanted to go. Always a treat.
We spent our first day wandering along and across the river to the downtown. We had no real destination in mind, other than finding a spot to grab a bite to eat that was also playing the hockey game. We eventually made our way to happy hour at Rodney’s Oyster House where we had a couple of drinks and a taste of home before we headed next door for the game.

We kept it a bit more local after that, checking out the nearby dog park and kid parks. The kids had a great time on the structures and we wandered back through the really vibrant local neighbourhood. The highlight of the day was definitely Nora’s – she managed to lose BOTH her front teeth in one go – and there wasn’t even any violence involved.

Our final day we made it down to 17th where we struggled to find a coffee shop that wasn’t completely packed. We eventually grabbed a coffee before wrapping up our time in the city. We are continuing the long road back east – our next stop is Winnipeg.
