Yosemite

We had originally planned on staying in the Fresno area to be about halfway between Yosemite and Sequoia national parks but because of the time of year not all the entrances were open and we are learning that less is more when it comes to day trips. So instead we found an awesome airbnb just outside the south entrance.

We only had a few days because we had decided to split our time between two places. After we found our first real grocery store in ages and stocked up on some proper groceries we decided to do an intro to Yosemite and do a small hike to a waterfall just around the corner from us. We couldn’t really find a lot of info about the hike, just that it existed really. The trail wasn’t super well marked but it was absolutely stunning. We decided we had ventured far enough when Charlie stumbled upon a couple of hikers who apparently thought they had the place to themselves and were really excited by the nature 😂. It made for an interesting conversation on the trek back to the car.

We got a relatively early start (for us) for our trip into Yosemite. Everything we had read just talked about how busy it is. And for good reason. This place was stunning. I can’t say enough good things about going in the off season. We hardly had any other people in the park with us. There were no waits to get in, no traffic, and lots of parking.

We spent a whole day inside the park and really just scratched the surface. The whole northern section wasn’t even open. We managed to see all the major sights, do a bit of walking around and some picture taking. We ended up taking the west exit for some variety on the way home. It was an absolutely stunning drive. It was so wild to see how much the scenery changed throughout our day – from a sequoia forest to crazy granite formations to rolling green mountains and raging waterfalls. Nature is neat.
