On pretty much any list we found of things to do with kids in Austin two things popped up consistently: Peter Pan mini golf and Zilker park. With just two days left these seemed like good afternoon activities.
Peter Pan mini golf has been in operation for 75 years – that’s a pretty solid run for a mini putt. I would say their secret is allowing you to take your own booze onto the course. We unfortunately forgot to take some with us. Either way we had a decent time with Charlie taking home the win.

The sun decided to cooperate for our last day in Austin. Zilker park is just a huge green space in the middle of Austin. Its star feature is a natural swimming pool fed by natural springs that have a near constant temperature of 20°ish. It wasn’t warm enough for us to take a dip but the kids had a great time on the play structures and we got to take the dog for a nice walk. Unfortunately we had to cut the walk short as we had one kid lose a fight with a big rock (same kid as the stream incident).

Austin was good to us. We had some great food, a wonderful house to stay in, sunshine and just generally a good time. I think it’s safe to say we will be back someday.
