We have definitely been looking forward to Austin – it came highly recommended by a number of people – and the forecast was calling for some good weather. Finally. We had also managed to find a four bedroom house in Austin, something the kids have been asking for since we left home.
It was so nice to be back in a real house. One with a fully stocked kitchen and enough room for us all to spread out. There was a grocery store just around the corner so we were able to stock up, settle in and have a great first night.
We quickly adapted to our life in Austin. We spent our first day getting caught up on work and school. The house had some games and colouring set up for the kids. The backyard was fenced in and had more than enough space for Roland. We took a quick walk down to the park for some playground time then we headed in to the city for a quick tour before dinner.

South congress has a very old school Mexico/California feel to it. It was a great little strip to walk. There were all kinds of bars, cafes and shops. We ended our walk at The Big Top soda shop where you can handcraft your own soda concoctions. Charlie painstakingly studied the menu before making his decision and upgrading to a float. All in all a great first day in Austin!
