Beignet, done that

We couldn’t miss a chance for a trip to the French quarter in NOLA and to introduce the kids to one of our favourite American cities. Jacob and I visited in 2012 when I was pregnant with Charlie before we went on our cruise with Dan and Becky. Thankfully we caught another day without rain (although it was hella windy) to venture in.

First stop in the city was for beignets. Beignets are like a fluffier version of beaver tails – a doughnut covered in icing sugar. Sure to be a hit really. We didn’t stop at the Cafe du Monde – mostly because it was freezing – but found a little courtyard with heaters, some live music, coffee and hot beignets. It did the trick.

We spent the rest of the afternoon chasing the sunshine and hiding from the wind as best we could while wandering around. We stopped into some odd shops (there are plenty of options), ran around in the park, checked out a few art stores and grabbed some supper before we said so long to New Orleans.
