The lake house that Jack built

We left Hamilton and headed south towards Lake Erie. We are staying just outside a town called Dunnville in a house that is almost in Lake Erie. It has gorgeous huge windows that overlook the lake and we walk down the outside stairs directly onto the beach, well, what they call a beach. The views are spectacular, I’m just hoping there isn’t a stiff breeze or we might all end up in the lake.

There is nothing in this place that’s square or level. The dishwasher needs to be latched tightly or all the dishes come flying out. There is one bedroom that you can’t access except through an outside door. The kids have closet bi-fold doors on their bedrooms. They’re very clearly in the middle of some renovations. It’s got a whole lot of charm, just not a whole lot of right angles.

We have essentially become regulars at the local cafe – the Minga having visited twice now. The second time we even got to stay for a movie! Other than our daily trips in for caffeine we have been relaxing into cottage life, hunting for sea glass and counting down to Christmas.
